South Georgia/ Antarctica/Falklands

South Georgia:
South Georgia has an astonishing concentration of wildlife and awe-inspiring scenery ranging from 7,000-foot Mountains and mighty glaciers to deep fjords and low-lying grassland. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and inspiring places on earth and certainly has more wildlife than virtually anywhere else on the planet. Thousands of King Penguins, Wandering Albatrosses nest, southern elephant seals, and thousands of fur seals breed.

• Breathtaking scenery
• Teaming with wildlife
• Nesting albatross – wandering, black-browed, light mantled sooty, grey headed
• Penguins – king, macaroni, gentoo
• Seals – fur and elephant
• History – Shackleton’s grave, Grytviken museum

Falkland Islands
Penguins are perhaps the most striking feature of bird life in the Falklands, with five breeding species (Rockhopper, Magellan, Gentoo, King and Macaroni). The Islands have what is the world's largest breeding population of Black-Browed Albatross, although some of the major colonies are remote and inaccessible. Several species of Petrel nest on offshore islands. Three species of seal breed on the Islands, elephant seal, sea lion and fur seal; the latter is rarely seen except in a few comparatively inaccessible areas. Occasionally the less common leopard seal is to be seen on some Falkland Islands beaches, although it is not known to breed here.

• Home to vast colonies of penguins and albatrosses
• Breeding grounds for sea lions, elephant seals and fur seals
• 15 species of whales and dolphins
• More than 160 native flowering plant species grow in the Islands, 14 of which are endemic
• Many unique insects including the rare and beautiful Queen of the Falklands Fritillary butterfly
• Hospitality of the local Falkland Islanders
• At least 200 species of birds have been recorded, of which more than 60 breed, including two endemic species (the Falkland Flightless Steamer Duck and Cobb's Wren) and 12 endemic races, plus the rare and local Johnny Rook (Striated Caracara) and Ruddy-headed Goose

Antarctica Peninsula
Antarctica, one of the most pristine wilderness areas on earth. Icebergs in all shapes and sizes. Ten thousand foot peaks rising out of the sea. Glaciers. Long summer days that end with brilliant colors as dusk finally turns back into daylight. Abundant wildlife. Penguin colonies with tens of thousands of breeding pairs. Albatross with 10-13 foot wingspans. Elephant, Weddell, crabeater, leopard, and fur seals. Humpback, minke, and Orca whales. And, no real human population.

• Awesome scenery
• Incredible icebergs
• Millions of penguins – Adélie, gentoo, chinstrap
• 5 species of seals – crabeater, Weddell, leopard, fur and southern elephant
• Whales – humpback, minke, orca
