Newfoundland & Labrador
From village to village, a voyage to Newfoundland offers a brief glance back in time to a lifestyle that has changed little with the centuries. Visitors are welcomed with music and lore by the hardy descendents of the British, Irish, Vikings and of course the Inuit. Newfoundland is also a natural wonderland with Gros Morne National Park as the star. This UNESCO world heritage sight, in the Northern Extension of the Appalachian Mountains houses some of the oldest rocks on the planet. In the Tableland’s, you will see butte-like structures, or volcanic ‘pillow rocks’ that make this one of the world’s most important geological sites. And not to be left out is the wildlife that you have the chance to experience in Newfoundland’s clear air and warm sun, from the world’s largest herds of Caribou to the roaming moose with their majestic antlers, to the whales that dance with icebergs in the sea, you will have plenty to delight over in this magical, and unique land.
