Due to sail in October 2021 this new ship honors the highly accomplished marine biologist, oceanographer and explorer, Sylvia Earle. As the first female chief scientist of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and named by Time Magazine as its first Hero for the Planet in 1998 – this vessel pays tribute to Sylvia’s long standing conservation efforts for marine protected areas and ocean wildlife. Sylvia Earle will be actively involved in the development of her namesake.

Whether it’s gathering in the modern lecture theatre to learn about the wildlife that you are about to see, photographing whales from its viewing platforms or preparing for your next shore excursion, the Sylvia Earle takes expedition cruising to a new level.

At just 340 feet (104 meters) long, the Sylvia Earle carries a maximum of 120 expeditioners to the polar regions. As one of the smallest ships in the polar expedition cruising fleet, its size and modern ice-strengthened hull (Class 1A, one category below a full ice-breaker) give you the ability to explore those places that larger ships can’t reach.

Exclusively designed for expedition cruising, the Sylvia Earle provides an authentic, small-ship experience. Thanks to its unique, patented X-Bow®, it is capable of fast, comfortable transit speeds with less fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

Designed to the latest Polar Code for non-intrusive, low-impact voyages, the Sylvia Earle features:
• Fuel-efficient Ulstein X-Bow®
• Reduced air emissions and light pollution
• Virtual anchoring for protection of the sea floor
• Reduced onboard plastic use
• Onboard water production
• Strict, onboard waste management

The Sylvia Earle offers seventy-four comfortable staterooms ranging from porthole to balcony categories, all with en suite bathrooms and plenty of storage space. All staterooms feature twin or king bedding configuration, 80% include a private balcony.

Make new friends in the dining room and bar, enjoy entertaining lectures in the theatre and informal chats with our onboard experts in one of several purpose-built observation areas. Indulge in our delightful wellness options, including heated, outdoor salt water pool and jacuzzis, gymnasium, massage room, sauna and spa.

The spacious, comfortable dining room offers a range of delicious courses at each meal, and the open seating makes it easy to mingle.
• Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner including house wines, beer and soft drinks, afternoon tea and snacks
• Pre-dinner drinks including canapés and bar snacks
• 24-hour complimentary coffee, tea and snacks
• Captain’s Welcome and Farewell drinks including four-course dinner, house cocktails, house beer and wine, non-alcoholic beverages

Floor-to-ceiling windows in the Deck 8 observation lounge mean that you don’t miss out on the wildlife and wilderness passing by. Comfortable, with bar facilities, it's a perfect place to mingle.

Glass Atrium Lounge with huge windows spanning Decks 5 & 6 and superb views to the front of the ship is the perfect place to sit with a drink and watch for wildlife or admire impressive scenery.

The unique adventure activity preparation areas and sea-level Zodiac loading making it easier and more efficient to transfer to and from the ship.

Multiple, open-air observation areas include Deck 8’s 180-degree forward views, Deck 7’s 270-degree aft-views, and Deck 5’s intimate nooks at the sides. Custom-built hydraulic platforms provide dedicated observation areas that swing out to offer unobstructed views of feeding whales or the ship pushing through pack ice.

Additional features include A state-of-the-art lecture theatre, swiming pool and jacuzzis, multi-media room and library, gym, wellness center.

All Antarctic voyages include one night's pre-voyage accommodation and arrival airport transfer (on selected preferred flights)
