Emperor & South Pole: Whichaway Camp from Cape Town

These luxury expeditions present the rare opportunity to venture into the untouched interior of this last great wilderness and experience the real Antarctica — explore neon-blue ice tunnels, get an up-close look at a colony of 6,000 Emperor Penguins and visit the South Pole.

From South Africa, fly into the interior of Antarctica in a private jet to the Whichaway eco-base camp. Whichaway can accommodate up to 12 guests in six luxuriously outfitted, heated, fiberglass sleeping pods. The rest of the camp comprises a large communal living area with shower pod, kitchen and three centralized pods that make up the reception, lounge and dining rooms.

Sleeping pods are heated and designed for two people in each. At just over 20-feet (6m) in diameter, they are also spacious, with a writing desk, wash area and toilet.

While the pod exteriors are made from cutting edge materials, the interiors have an old-world feel with rich textures.

An on-site, award-winning chef prepares three meals a day including hearty breakfasts, elegant lunches and three course dinners.

Further exploration from Whichaway base camp is by specialized 4x4 vehicles or by turbo prop plane. A variety of activities are available from gentile treks through ice caves and picnics, to technical rock climbing, abseiling (rappelling) and kite-skiing. Whether you want to summit unclimbed peaks or just experience Antarctica’s majestic scenery, we ensure you are warm and safe in doing whatever you want to do.
